This specimen was lot 49459 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/3 Skilling Banco, 1844. Stockholm Mint. Oscar I. NGC MS-65 Brown. Tied for finest certified with one other date on the NGC population report." Prior to the reform of 1830, 48 skilling = one riksdaler; after 1830, 128 skilling = one riksdaler specie. As a result the skilling was reduced from 28.3 g to 11.3 g. This is a common date of a type struck 1844-55. The denomination was terminated in 1855.
