This specimen was lot 26063 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan gold Ducat 1821-LB, Stockholm mint, MS62 NGC. Moderately handled as the grade would imply, but fully detailed with enchanting luster in the fields. A scarce ducat that is seldom available in any grade." This type was struck in small numbers 1818-29 but enough were saved that it is comparatively affordable. He ruled 1818-44 and his descendants reign over Sweden today.

Specification: 3.49 g, .979 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 594, Fr-84.
