Steve Album sale 51, lot 3333

The second specimen was lot 3333 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[2] noted, "SWEDEN: Gustav III, 1771-1792, 1/6 riksdaler, 1783, a few extremely light hairlines, Unc." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the 16 öre (KM 513). It must have been a success, as this type was struck 1778-90 in large numbers and is common today. A variety exists for this date with the king's title misspelled "RXE".

Recorded mintage: 414,000.

Specifications: 6.19 g, 0.691 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-524.
