This specimen was lot 21527 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Daler Plate Money, 1721. Fredrik I (1720-51). VERY FINE. 9.5 x 9.5 in. (Tingstrom: 172 examples known including 97 pieces from the Nicobar). Stamps all fairly well applied. Center stamp is nearly complete with only some of the border missing. The corner stamps all have full dates, one of them is a bit uneven and lacks a good portion of the border and two others have some missing border areas. No major detracting marks and very nicely toned with a chestnut patina over all of the surfaces. Ex: Pittman Collection." This type was issued 1720-46 and is the most common four daler plate. Millions were made but most were melted down to make other copper or bronze objects.
