Sincona sale 76, lot 1602

This specimen was lot 1602 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 12,000 CHF (about US$14,566 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWEDEN. Karl XII. 1697-1718. Riksdaler 1707, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur LC (Lorentz Careelberg, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1706-1722). Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (kingdom of Sweden, Charles XII, 1697-1718, riksdaler of 1707, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials "LC". Very rare, especially in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Beautiful condition with magnificent patina.)"

The mintage for this rare type is shared with another riksdaler, Dav-1713, which shows the doomed king facing left with long hair.

Recorded mintage: 2,344 (including Dav-1713).

Specification: 29.25 g, 0.878 fine silver, this specimen 28.78 g.
