Heritage sale 3029, lot 30977

This specimen was lot 30977 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XI 2 Ore 1675-HIH, VF30 NGC. A very rare type struck at Landskrona with the mintmaster's initials HIH. Nicely toned and original, an elusive type and variety." This type is known from the Landskrone mint (shown here) and the Stockholm mint for 1664-69 and 1675-76. The Stockholm issues have mintages in the millions but the Landskrone mint product is much scarcer.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.444 fine silver, 20.5 mm diameter.
