This specimen was lot 4152 in Goldberg sale 41 (Beverly Hills, May 2007), where it sold for $17,250. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden. Ducat, 1675. Charles XI, 1660-1697. Laureate head facing left. Leg: CAROLVS XI D - G REX SVECIAE Reverse: Crown above two interlocking C's with crowns at the sides, crown and date at the bottom. Leg: FACTVS EST DOMINVS PROTECTOR MEVS ('I have made the Lord my Protector'). A superb mint fresh example of this early Swedish ducat. Rare type and very rare this nice. NGC graded MS-66. Charles had just recently been declared of age after a long regency when this coin was minted. He was just nineteen. Unfortunately for Charles, during his regency the Swedish parliament took back much of the power that his father had acquired for the crown. This is an amazing specimen of this type." This type is recorded for 1671-76; all are rare.
