This specimen was lot 21414 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $6,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Ducat, 1679. Stockholm Mint. Carl XI. NGC AU-50. A rather RARE and seldom seen issue, this charming piece presents a hint of flan waviness, yet otherwise possesses little circulation and offers a charming golden-orange tone. Assuredly worthy of a good deal of consideration and interest owing to its elusive nature. Ex: S. M. Damon Collection." Despite being struck nearly continuously 1677-95, all dates are rare.
