Künker sale 400, lot 650

This specimen was lot 650 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$16,865 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEDEN, KÖNIGREICH, Karl XI. 1660-1697. Dukat 1680, Stockholm. CAROLVS · - XI D : G : REX · SVE : Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit umgelegtem Mantel//FACTVS · EST · DOMINVS · PROTECTOR · MEVS Gekröntes Monogramm "CC", zu den Seiten je eine kleine Krone, unten eine weitere Krone zwischen 16 - 80, darunter die Signatur DF (Daniel Faxell, Münzmeister in Stockholm 1672-1683). In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung AU 58 (2141143-013). GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Das am besten erhaltenste der vier bekannten Exemplare in Privatbesitz. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Sweden, Charles XI, 1660-97, ducat of 1680, Stockholm mint. Obverse: armored and mantled bust right; reverse: Crowned monogram "CC", a small crown on each side, another crown between 16 - 80 at the bottom, underneath the signature DF. Graded NGC AU58, extremely rare, the finest of the four known privately owned examples, magnificent specimen, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Despite being struck nearly continuously 1677-95, all dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 13,000.
