Sweden 1675 2 mark
This specimen was lot 30978 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XI 2 Mark 1675, MS63 NGC. A superb example with well-struck features and rich old-time patina. The surfaces are fresh and original with nearly full mint luster. Rare in this superior quality and a coin with exceptional eye appeal." Early two mark (KM 23) were 9.87 g, .821 fine; later types of 1638-48 were heavier but lower in fineness, containing about the same amount of silver. The subsequent issues of the 1660's were 10.40 g, 0.694 fine silver. This type of 1673-75 is fairly reasonable in circulated condition.
