Sweden 1669-FIRST 2 mark
This specimen was lot 2170 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €240 (about US$324 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEDEN, KÖNIGREICH, Karl XI. 1660-1697. 2 Mark 1669, Stockholm. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Sweden, Charles XI, 1660-97, two mark of 1669, Stockholm mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1664-65, 1669-77; issues before 1670 are not priced as they overlap KM 237a. Early two mark (KM 23) were 9.87 g, .821 fine; later types of 1638-48 were heavier but lower in fineness, containing about the same amount of silver. The subsequent issues of the 1660's were 10.40 g, 0.694 fine silver.
