Sweden 1670 2 mark

from Goldberg sale 98, lot 3170

This specimen was lot 3170 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Sweden. 2 Mark, 1670. Carl XI. Laureate head left. Reverse: Three crowns, value and date. PCGS graded Genuine, Very Fine, Details (Smoothed)." Early two mark (KM 23) were 9.87 g, 0.821 fine; later types of 1638-48 were heavier but lower in fineness, containing about the same amount of silver. The subsequent issues of the 1660's were 10.40 g, 0.694 fine silver. This type of 1664-77 is fairly reasonable in circulated condition.
