Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 78488

This specimen was lot 78488 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/2 Riksdaler, 1644. Stockholm Mint. Christina. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. An alluring minor that features a somewhat side profile view of the famous queen, this specimen exhibits very little in the way of handling along with pleasing toning, with a reverse that displays an imposing figure of Christ the Redeemer. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck 1644-47 and 1652. The earlier type (KM 186) had the initials "AG" higher up on the reverse. It is much scarcer than the accompanying riksdaler (Dav-4525).
