This specimen was lot 30975 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "Christina Riksdaler 1643-AG, AU55 NGC. Date in Roman numerals. A highly attractive specimen of this popular Riksdaler featuring a facing bust of the Queen in an intricately detailed gown. The portrait details are exceptionally sharp as is the figure of Christ on the reverse. The surfaces are blemish free and toned a rich deep gray. An ideal type coin for this issue and very scarce in this grade." This type was struck 1641-53 with numerous varieties; some have Roman numeral dates (as here) and later issues have Arabic numeral dates.
