Swaziland 1979 lilangeni Fr-10
This specimen was lot 2648 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €1,050 (about US$1,329 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWAZILAND, Sobhuza II (1968-1982), AV 1 lilangeni (1/2 oz), 1979. Ecrin, sous boîtier scellé. Flan poli. (kingdom of Swaziland, Sobhuza II, 1968-82, half ounce gold lilangeni of 1979. Proof with box and capsule.)"
This denomination was also issued in copper-nickel (KM 13). This commemorative marking the king's eightieth birthday was accompanied by a gold two emalangeni (KM 30). In April 2018, the official name of the country was changed from Kingdom of Swaziland to Kingdom of Eswatini.
