Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4408

This specimen was lot 4408 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWAZILAND. 50 Emalangeni, 1975. ANACS PROOF-67. Struck to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the birth of King Sobhuza II." This commemorative was accompanied by a gold fifty emalangeni (KM 27), silver ten emalangeni (KM 25) and a copper-nickel one lilangeni for the masses (KM 24). In April 2018, the official name of the country was changed from Kingdom of Swaziland to Kingdom of Eswatini.

Recorded mintage: 3,510 plus 3,262 proofs.

Specification: 4.31 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.123 troy oz AGW.
