SB124-57779 rev.jpg

This specimen was lot 57779 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Sumatra. 1/2 Stuiver, 1822-S. Decimal coinage was introduced in 1833 and made general for the entire colony in 1854.

Recorded mintage: 7,000,000.

Specification: 6 g, copper, 25.5 mm diameter.
