Strasbourg 1759-JG 1/12 thaler
This specimen was lot 1916 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €300 (about US$404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANKREICH/ELSASS, STRASSBURG, BISTUM, Ludwig Constantin von Rohan, 1756-1777. 1/12 Taler 1759, Oberkirch. R Sehr schön. (French states, bishopric of Strasbourg, Louis Constantine of Rohan, 1756-77, twelfth thaler of 1759, Oberkirch mint. Scarce, very fine.)"
This type is accompanied by a sixth thaler (KM 226) and a half thaler (KM 241). The bishop continued to issue coins long after France has annexed the actual town of Strasbourg. The last issue is a twenty kreuzer of 1773 (KM 162).
