This specimen was lot 72258 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Strassbourg. 12 Kreuzer, ND (1615-23). PCGS MS-62. This beautiful Mint State example displays a rich allotment of details, and much remaining beauty on the flan. A perfect piece for any specialist in German states coinage." Strasbourg was an imperial free city until it was seized and annexed by Louis XVI in 1681, ending its independent coinage, altho the mint remained open, producing French coins. The town issued several undated twelve kreuzer. KM MB144, the most common, has a fleur-de-lys with the denomination ("(XII)") at the top. KM 150 has the obverse legend "*MON*NOV*RIP*ARGENTINEN:" around the city arms. KM 150, shown here, has the legend "*ASSIS*REIP*ARGENT*DVPLEX" around a fleur-de-lys.
