This specimen was lot 21411 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 20 Cents, 1901. NGC MS-63. Virtually tone-free with frosty-white luster, bold detail that runs from the centers to the edges and few marks of significance on either side. A conditional RARITY in this quality, with only four example graded finer between NGC and PCGS." This type was struck in 1871-1901 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and is scarce in nice condition despite the large mintage. This date is common for the type.
