This specimen was lot 3175 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "ST. THOMAS & PRINCE: Portuguese Colony, 50 centavos, 1951, brilliant cartwheel luster, PCGS graded MS66. Tied for finest example at PCGS (Top Pop: 4/0)." This one year type has a small mintage but is not especially scarce. The colony, originally a slave trading station, later turned to sugar production and finally cacao. The Portuguese withdrew in 1975.
