Sincona sale 95, lot 4505

This specimen was lot 4505 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$451 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, Groschen 1723, St. Gallen. Vorzüglich. Kleiner Stempelriss. (Switzerland, city and canton of St. Gall, groschen of 1723, St. Gall mint. Extremely Fine, Small die crack.)"

Numista notes that groschen were struck in St. Gall 1714-15, 1720-32, 1737-39 while this subtype was struck 1721-25. Other varieties, such as KM 87 and KM 86, have the date on the bear side.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.36 g, billon, 22 mm diameter, this specimen 1.69 g.
