Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 2997

This specimen was lot 2997 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 101 € (about US$131 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1947*1954. Franco. 1 peseta. En cápsula de la PCGS como MS65, nº 409151.65/45695238. S/C [graded PCGS MS-65; uncirculated]." This type was struck 1948-67 in large numbers and most dates are common in circulated condition. This date is scarce in choice condition. Altho the date below the bust is 1947, the actual date is in the stars on the reverse; Spain was the only country to do this.

Recorded mintage: 50,000,000 plus 6,000,000 dated 1953(54).

Specifications: aluminum bronze, 3.5 g, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge.
