Áureo y Calicó sale 346, lot 1363

This specimen was lot 1363 in Áureo y Calicó sale 346 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €160 (about US$211 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1833. Fernando VII. Sevilla. JB. 2 reales. Bella. Brillo original. Escasa así. EBC+. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand VII, two reales of 1833, Seville mint. Handsome, original luster, scarce thus, choice extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Madrid 1814-33, in Seville 1815-33 (shown here) and in Cadiz 1810-12. Lower in fineness than contemporary Latin American issues, they were discounted in international trade. Tho priced fairly cheaply in the SCWC, this type is very difficult to find at U. S. coin shows.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.812 fine silver, this specimen 6,02 g.

Catalog reference: KM 460.3, Cayón-15642, AC. 967.
