Aureo sale 232, lot 1257

The specimen shown was lot 1257 in Aureo y Calicó sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 76 euros (about US$125 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Carlos III (1759-1788). 1767. Madrid. PJ. 2 reales. Buen ejemplar. MBC+. (Charles III, 1759-88, two reales of 1767, Madrid mint; nice example, choice very fine.)"

This type was issued at Seville 1760-71 and Madrid 1759-71. The minors, especially one and two reales, are much more common than the pesos.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.833 fine silver, .181 troy oz ASW.
