This specimen was lot 31767 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI 1/2 Escudo 1759 S-JV MS65 NGC, Seville mint. A lustrous Gem Mint State specimen, thus a coin that would be very difficult to improve." This Spanish half escudo struck in 1759 at the Seville mint. Assayer JV is recorded for the years 1757-59. Half escudos with the bust of Charles III (Fr-279) also exist for 1759.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.0498 troy oz AGW.
