Áureo y Calicó sale 347, lot 251

This specimen was lot 251 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €130 (about US$172 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1754. Fernando VI. Sevilla. PJ. 2 reales. Único año de este ensayador. Bella. Ex Colección Manuela Etcheverría. EBC. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand VI, two reales of 1754, Seville mint, the only date for this assayer. Handsome, extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1754 and 1757-59 and is noted as common. It circulated in the early United States but at a discount from its Latin American peers because of its lower fineness.
