Aureo y Calicó sale 447, lot 1210

This specimen was lot 1210 in Aureo y Calicó sale 447 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 600 € (about US$784 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1739. Felipe V. Madrid. JF. 1 escudo. Scarce. MBC+ [choice very fine]." This is a better date of a rather scarce type struck 1729-30 and 1733-42. Assayer JF is reported for 1733-42.

Recorded mintage: 22,508 per Numista.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.901 fine gold, 18 mm diameter, this specimen 3.35 g.
