Aureo sale 261, lot 335

This specimen was lot 335 in Aureo y Calicó sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €135 (about US$217 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1734. Felipe V. Sevilla. PA. 4 reales. Escasa. MBC-. (Philip V (1700-46), four reales of 1734, Seville mint. Scarce, about very fine.)"

This type was issued at Seville 1731-38. While four reales of this period are half the price of the rare eight reales, they are still seven times the price of a bust four reales of the 1770's.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.931 fine silver, .405 troy oz ASW.
