Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74627

This specimen was lot 74627 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 4 Reales, 1728-S P. Seville Mint. Philip V. PCGS AU-55. Offering crisp detail, good centering, and an elegant moderate gray tone, this 4 Reales piece exudes eye appeal. A stunning example of this SCARCE Spanish silver type." This type was struck at Madrid 1728-40, Segovia 1728-29 and Seville 1728-29. It is listed as somewhat scarce.
