Sedwick Treasure auction 26, lot 1100

This specimen was lot 1100 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 26 (Winter Park, FL, November 2019), where it sold for $3,570. The catalog description[1] noted, "Seville, Spain, milled gold 1 escudo, Philip V, 1712M, NGC MS 62, finest and only example in NGC census. Bold details against choice satin fields, struck on a small flan for the design with boldly scalloped edge, rather cob-like overall." This type was struck at Seville 1701-26. It was superseded in 1729 by the portrait type.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine gold.
