Sedwick Treasure auction 26, lot 1098

This specimen was lot 1098 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 26 (Winter Park, FL, November 2019), where it sold for $4,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "Seville, Spain, milled gold 8 escudos, Philip V, 1702M, NGC AU 50, finest and only example in NGC census. Much luster for the grade, centers slightly weak, off-center obverse, scarce second date of type." This type was struck at Seville 1701-19.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.917 fine gold.
