This specimen was lot 1335 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $3,900. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN, Segovia, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, 1659 M, NGC MS 62, ex-Casandra. Bright with luster, the complete and well-detailed shield with bold denomination 8 to right and assayer M to left below partial aqueduct mintmark, full but off-center cross-lions-castles with clear 1 and bottom of 6 and 9 of date (but different dies from the next lot). NOTE: NGC label says Madrid (1627-35)M in error. NGC #8444886-002. Pedigreed to the Casandra Collection (stated on label)." Eight reales were hammered for Philip IV at Burgos (KM 39.1), Cuenca (KM 39.2), Granada (KM 39.3), Madrid (KM 39.4), Segovia (shown here, struck 1621-28 and 1659-62), Seville (KM 39.6) and Toledo (KM 39.8). The photo in the SCWC is confusing as it shows a milled eight reales with a vertical mintmark and the denomination written as "8"; this corresponds to KM 111. A third type, with a rotated mintmark and the denomination written as "VIII", is catalogued as KM 76.

Specification: 27.47 g, 0.931 fine silver, this specimen 26.71 grams.
