This specimen was lot 76288 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTHERN RHODESIA. 1/2 Crown, 1942. London Mint. George VI. NGC MS-60. From the Richard Margolis Collection." Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1938-42 and is not common. The issue of 1944 was only 0.500 fine silver.

Recorded mintage: 2,008,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 14.14 g, 0.925 fine silver, 32.3 mm diameter.
