This specimen was lot 75384 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTHERN RHODESIA. Penny, 1935. London Mint. George V. PCGS MS-63. This beautiful Choice example displays an attractive satiny luster and a bold strike." Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1934-36.
