South Africa 1937 6 pence

Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 73193

This specimen was lot 73193 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 6 Pence, 1937. London Mint. NGC MS-64. A pleasing example of the type with good strike and wholly original surfaces." This type was struck 1937-47 and is common altho some of the proofs are rare. The issues of 1948-50 were 0.800 fine and those of 1951-60 were 0.500 fine silver.

Recorded mintage: 1,696,000 + 116 proofs.

Specification: 2.83 g, 0.900 fine silver, 19.41 mm diameter.
