This specimen was lot 73193 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 6 Pence, 1937. London Mint. NGC MS-64. A pleasing example of the type with good strike and wholly original surfaces." This type was struck 1937-47 and is common altho some of the proofs are rare. The issues of 1948-50 were 0.800 fine and those of 1951-60 were 0.500 fine silver.
Recorded mintage: 1,696,000 + 116 proofs.
Specification: 2.83 g, 0.900 fine silver, 19.41 mm diameter.
