Sincona sale 4, lot 5624

This specimen was lot 5624 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011), where it sold for 1,350 CHF (about US$1,796 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Solothurn Franken 1811. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. Fast FDC.. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, one franc of 1811 [sic]. Beautifully preserved, choice uncirculated.)"

The SCWC does not give the weight standard for this rare one year type but the reported weight of this specimen suggests that it was not meant to match the French franc, which was five grams.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.
