Steve Album sale 51, lot 3004

This specimen was lot 3004 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOLMS-LICH: Ernest II, 1602-1619, AR 3 kreuzer (groschen), 1617, titles of Matthias in margin, label erroneously reads Solms-Hohensolms, PCGS graded MS61, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection." The county of Solms, a petty state in Hesse, had many branches. The line of Solms-Lich was created in 1548 and fell extinct in 1718, passing to Solms-Hohensolms. This type was struck in many varieties 1612-17.
