This coin was issued 1992-2002 to replace a bronze cent (KM 49). The years 1996-97 and 1999 were struck only for collector sets. The proofs were struck in silver (KM 98a).

Recorded mintage: 20,055,000.

Specification: 1.24 g, copper plated zinc, 15.9 mm diameter.
