The first specimen was lot 75498 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Penny, ND (1280-86). Alexander III. NGC EF-40. Attractively toned with fully readable legends and a solid portrait of the king." The second specimen was lot 44920 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $1,037. The catalog description[2] noted, "SCOTLAND. Penny, ND (1280-86). Edinburgh Mint. Alexander III. PCGS MS-62. Second coinage. From the John P. Burnham Collection."
