Künker sale 335, lot 4359

This specimen was lot 4359 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €280 (about US$367 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE, SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT. Georg Wilhelm, 1807-1860. Ku.-3 Pfennig 1858, A. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Polierte Platte. (Germany, principality of Schaumburg-Lippe, George William, 1807-60, copper three pfennig of 1858. Very scarce in this quality, proof.)"

The count was promoted to prince in 1807. The prince issued coins only sporadically but in 1858 issued a set comprising a one pfennig (KM 39), a two pfennig (KM 40), a three pfennig (KM 41, shown here), a four pfennig (KM 42), a half silber groschen (KM 43), a one silber groschen (KM 44) and a 2½ silbergroschen (KM 45).

Recorded mintage: 360,000.
