Saxony 1911-E 2 mark
This specimen was lot 33928 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. Friedrich August III Proof 2 Mark 1911-E PR65 NGC, Muldenhutten mint. Fully deserving of an Ultra Cameo designation by every stretch of the imagination, a level of frosting present on the bust that is seldom found, accompanied by lightly contouring tone that gives a sculpturesque finish." This type was struck 1905-08, 1911-14. Altho the kingdom of Saxony collapsed after World War One, the Muldenhutten mint continued to operate for the Weimar Republic and later the Nazis.
