Sincona sale 18, lot 1534

This specimen was lot 1534 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Konventionstaler 1831. Dresden, Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Saxony, convention thaler of 1831, Dresden mint. Choice extremely fine.)"

Three different thalers were issued in Saxony in 1831, of which this is the most common. This type was issued 1829-36.

Recorded mintage: 697,000 plus 19,000 mining thalers (Dav-868) and 14,000 constitution commemoratives (Dav-869).

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, .751 troy oz ASW, lettered edge, this specimen 28.08 g.
