This specimen was lot 30701 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Friedrich August I gold Proof Ducat 1824-IGS PR64 Ultra Cameo NGC, Dresden mint. A very rare and attractive ultra cameo example with glossy and reflective fields. Unbeatable eye-appeal on this very unique issue currently listed as the only certified example of this date." This was issued 1824 only and, like all Saxon ducats of the nineteenth century, is rare.
