This specimen was lot 2986 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXONY: Friedrich August I, 1806-1827, AR 1/12 thaler, 1812, mintmaster SGH, a lovely mint state example! PCGS graded MS63." This type was struck in substantial numbers 1806-18. The 1812 is the most common date. The king also struck 1/48, 1/3, 2/3 and single thalers in 1812.
Recorded mintage: 5,172,000, including mintmaster IGS.
Specifications: 3.34 g, 0.437 fine silver, 21.2 mm diameter, plain edge.
