Saxony 1810-SGH thaler Dav-854
This specimen was lot 31172 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. Friedrich August I Taler 1810-SGH MS65 NGC, Dresden mint. A peak-quality representative of a type relatively easy to acquire up through Choice designations, becoming increasingly difficult to locate approaching this advanced state of preservation. While subdued appearances abound due to obverse adjustment marks, the reverse faces up especially fine, beaming with mint brilliance and deep peripheral flow lines. Ex. This type was issued 1807-17 along with a mining thaler (Dav-856). It is common.
