This specimen was lot 74594 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Ducat, 1783-IEC. Dresden Mint. Friedrich August III. NGC UNC Details, Harshly Cleaned. This example retains its reflectivity in the reverse fields and protected obverse areas which are paired with frosty devices. The noted cleaning is manifested as hairlines primarily on the obverse." This type was struck 1779-90. It is probably the most common Saxon ducat.
