Sincona sale 38, lot 1766

This specimen was lot 1766 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"August III. 1733-1763 Dukat 1754 EDC. Leipzig. Selten. Vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt. (kingdom of Poland, Augustus III of Saxony, 1733-63, ducat of 1754, Leipzig mint. Rare. Extremely fine. Lightly wavy planchet.)"

Catalog number KM 916 (under Saxony) is incorrectly noted as a vicariat issue, which was minted 1741-42 only. Leipzig mint issues get a 25% premium over the Dresden issue. This type was struck 1745, 1752-56.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.47 g.
