Saxony 1701-ILH thaler Dav-2647
The second specimen was lot 4371 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August I. 1694-1733 (August der Starke). Reichstaler 1701, Dresden. R Hübsche Patina, leichte Prägeschwäche, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus I, 1694-1733, thaler of 1701, Dresden mint. Rare, handsome patina, slightly weakly struck, about extremely fine.)"
This type is noted for 1698-1705 but is rare. The years 1698-1700 are Dav-7656 and the years 1701-05 are Dav-2647. Frederick Augustus was also king of Poland.
