This specimen was lot 74629 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $1,342. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler Klippe, 1699. Dresden Mint. Friedrich August I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. Though some cleaning is noted, this moderately circulated klippe issue offers some alluring toning and pleasing brilliance remaining among the protected areas. From the Collection of Kazmier Wysocki, former mayor of Hackensack, New Jersey." This klippe thaler celebrated the conclusion of the Treaty of Nijmegen in 1679, which ended a war between France and an alliance of the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark and the Empire. It would be issued again in 1705 as Dav-2648. The "VIRTUTE PARATA" reverse was used previously for Dav-7654. Louis XIV would attack the Low Countries several more times until the War of the Spanish Succession (1700-15) involved all of Europe.
